The answer: A little bit of both.
Tuesday, March 11, will bring the warmest day of the week, with temperatures near 70 degrees in both New Jersey and the Philadelphia area, according to the National Weather Service. Sunshine and light winds will make for perfect outdoor conditions, but don’t get too comfortable—a midweek cooldown is on the way.
“Today will be the first of several days ahead of above-normal temperatures, with highs well into the 60s in most areas,” forecasters said Monday, March 10. “We’ll warm up even further on Tuesday, with some inland areas making a run at 70°. Turning cooler for Wednesday and Thursday, then warming up again by Friday into the weekend.”
In New Jersey, temperatures will dip Tuesday night into the upper 30s before a noticeable cooldown Wednesday, with highs only reaching the mid-50s. A slight chance of showers moves in late Wednesday night, with clouds lingering into Thursday.
For the Philadelphia area, Tuesday’s high will be near 70 degrees before cooling to around 40 overnight. Wednesday will still be mild, with highs near 60, before dropping into the low 40s at night. Thursday will be partly sunny with temperatures in the low 60s.
The good news? Another warm-up is expected by the weekend. Temperatures will climb back near 70 degrees by Saturday, but rain chances increase late in the weekend. Forecasters predict an 80% chance of showers and possible thunderstorms on Sunday in both New Jersey and Philadelphia, with rain lingering into Sunday night.
So, while the sunshine sticks around for now, you might want to keep an umbrella handy for the second half of the weekend.
